He was innate around Baltimore, Maryland and attended Johns Hopkins University, where he exposed mathematics. He has appeared within many films & television program.

He began within theatre, doing voice-all over function for commercial message. Two or three years late he starred in The Addams Family (1964-1966) as Gomez Addams, a ghastly head of the personal.

He has continued to function, appearing inside the string of "Killer Tomatoes" films when Prof Gangreen. He too tours a a single-one-person play, "Edgar Allan Poe -Once upon a Midnight", written by Paul Day Clemens & Ron Magid. Astin teaches acting & directing in the Writing Seminars Department at his alma mater, Johns Hopkins University.

He has ternary sons, David, Allen & Tom, sustaining his 1st married woman, Suzanne Hahn, & 2 sons, Sean and Mackenzie, both successful actors, by having his 2nd married woman Patty Duke. Sean is non his biological boy, however John Astin legally adopted him. John Astin is presently married to Valerie Ann Sandobal.
